Automakers Suggest European Standards for EVs
"European automakers have come up with an idea for all electric vehicles on the market. The proposed set of recommendations seek to standardize the charging of electric vehicles, which will enable the use of one type of plug regardless of car maker, electricity provider and country.
This proposal could ensure that the Nissan LEAF and/or the Mitsubishi MiEV gain between three and 10 percent of new vehicle sales by 2025, the European auto industry association ACEA said last week.
“We call on the European Commission, the standardization bodies and the infrastructure providers to adopt these recommendations and to clear remaining issues as soon as possible,” said Ivan Hodac, secretary general of the ACEA, in a statement.
The European auto industry’s proposed recommendation include the whole link between the public charging infrastructure and the vehicle inlet, including communication between the two, and address slow and fast-charging with direct or alternate current, ACEA said."
